The census spreadsheets were loaded separately and name people differently — one holds Helena Brownsword Dowson, the other Helena Dowson. Where two records share a surname and first forename, were born within two years of each other, and never appear in the same census year, they are usually one person split in half.
Merging keeps one record and moves everything onto it: census entries, occupations, photographs, links. Blank fields on the kept record are filled from the other, and the biographies are joined. It cannot be undone, so check the two are really the same before merging.
